Beautiful : Malayalam film quick review

Hi Readers...

Here is a quick review on the movie 'Beautiful', from Jayasurya and Anoop Menon. Let me tell you all before hand, that this is not the kind of film we would usually expect to see from Jayasurya and that this movie as the name suggests; is BEAUTIFUL film indeed.

Let me first introduce the main characters in the film, before I actually review the films story. Jayasurya, Anoop Menon and Meghana Raj play the key roles in this film. While Tiny Tom, Praveena, Tesni Khan and Aprana play shorter roles in the film. All of the actors have done a beautiful job in bringing out the essence of this film. The film has been written by Anoop Menon himself, while the film is directed by V K Prakash. The film is produced by Anand Kumar, and the Music for the films has been done by Ratheesh Vega.

The lead role played by Jayasurya is of a character name Stephen Louis, who is paralyzed from below his neck. He is the only inheritor to hundreds of crore worth of assets. Even with is disabilities, he manages to have a positive approach to life and enjoys each and very moment. On one occasion he meets John played my Anoop Menon, who is an aspiring Musician. He has his own share of problems, and is trying hard to start up his own band in order to pay for his family needs. The two slowly become good friends and have a great bond. In the meanwhile, all is not well for Stephen as trouble comes in the way of his relatives who want a share of his wealth. Into this plot comes Meghana Raj's character Anjali, a home nurse who comes to take care of Stephen. From then the films takes the twist, which you all much watch to know :)

The actors all have done a good job, and the music is wonderful especially the song 'Mazhaneer Thullikal'. Kettoo would be posting the lyrics of 'Mazhaneer Thullikal' very soon, so keep watching this space.

Bhavana Latest Film : Romeo!!

Thank you all for supporting us.. I am really sorry that I have not been able to post anything over the last two weeks.. however I had some interesting experiences over the last weeks and was a bit busy..

This is an exclusive on "Kettoo", Bhavana shooting for her latest film "Romeo" in Bangalore. No.. this is not a Malayalam film, its the latest Kanada flick that she is doing with Kanada "Golden Star" Ganesh. We were at the sets last week and was able to talk to Bhavana about the film and much more. So today, I am going to give a review on the film as well as somethings that I was able to learn from the encounter.

About the film "Romeo",  the first thing that I would like to clarify is that it is not a remake of the Malayalam film "Romeo". This film is based on a story about a loving relationship that transforms over a period of time. The film is set in an IT environment, were the two lead actors are working. The film is being shot at different places in Bangalore, some of the major portions being taken at Electronic City.

Ganesh plays the lead role of a responsible young man; full of guts, glory and charm. He meets this highly career oriented and assertive girl, Bhavana. Ganesh eventually manages to convince Bhavana of his love towards her and they get married. Later on, issues start to develop between them and the story goes on the lines on how they sort out these issues.

 P.C.Shekhar is the director of the film. Actor Naveen  and Ramesh Kumar are jointly producing the film. The songs for this film have been composed byArjun Janya.

Now to the main part.. last weekend I had been to Electronic City for something important and was able to take part in the shooting. I had the chance to interact with Bhavana. Mind you, she is a very friendly human-being and very polite. I was having some doubts on how she would react, but was pleasantly surprised by her character and behavior. I must say that many of us have such misconceptions of these actors and actresses. After talking to Bhavana, what I could understand was that they are also just like us trying to do their job (Yes they get paid a lot for that!!). We must also understand, how much stress they would be facing due to the constant media attention. So its no wonder, at times that some of them may react differently. But I must say talking to Bhavana and interacting with her has make me change a few of my misunderstandings. (Thanks Bhavana!!)

A quick review on Grandmaster : Mohanlal

Hi Readers..
Its been some time since I posted. So thought I would come and give some good info to you all.. I just received an update from my close friend and source on Mohanlal's upcoming film "Grandmaster". The details are still only coming in and stills are yet to be obtained. However, I am posting the updates I have and would possibly update this later as I get more information.

"Grandmaster" is the next film that Mohanlal would be doing with director B. Unnikrishnan. The film would be produced by UTV motion pictures, their first venture into Mollywood. B Unnikrishnan has written the film and would be directing it. Deepak Dev and Gopi Sundar has been roped in to do the music for the film.

The film is said to be a thiller and would showcase the megastar in a different avatar. Mohanlal would be playing the lead role, as a police officer. The film is loosely based on the darker side of  a large city. He is a master at the game of chess, however in his real life he is a flop. He is divorced and rumor has it that, there would be no love interest for the megastar in the film. Later on a stranger comes into his life which changes everything. Then the film moves on to how he over comes each hurdles that comes at him. The director in a recent interview has mentioned that there would be six ladies in film. Each of their characters have an important role in the film, around which the film revolves.

The film is in its pre-production stages, and shooting is set to begin in mid-November or December. Other cast and crew are being finalized, however as per our sources Vega Tamotia and Andera Jeremiah would be playing important roles in the film. Andera is said to be playing the role of a lawyer in the film. Other important casts include Siddique, Saikumar and Jagathy Srikumar.

The film is slated to be released for "Vishu 2012" on April 5th 2012.

Asif Ali : Cowboy

Today I am going to post my review on Asif Ali's latest film "COWBOY". I had been waiting to post this update for sometime now, however had some more info to collect.

Cowboy is the latest from Asif Ali, and is set to be released in the first couple of months in 2012. The shooting of the film was said to start in the start of November, but inside news is that it had already started in mid-October. As per our sources, the film would be completely shot in Malaysia.

This is set to be an all-out action film, a first from Asif. Asif plays the role of a youth named "Vinay", who is considered to be of no use by both family and society. He plays the role of the common youth, lazy and easy going. All of a sudden some events take place in his life, which turns his life completely and he becomes a person with a totally different character.

The leading lady of the film is Mythili, the pair had a winning combination in the super hit film "Salt N' Pepper". The Malayalam-Tamil actor Bala, would be playing the role of the villain in the film. Bala had earlier played a similar role, in the Prithviraj starer "Puthiya Mugham". The other leading roles are played by Swetha Menon, Master Pankaj, Jagathy, Anil Murali, Lena, Saddiq and Kalashala Babu to name a few.

The film is directed by new comer P Balachandrakumar and produced by Dr. V.S Sudhakaran, under the banner of Cine Castle Movie Kingdom.  The lyrics for the film would be done by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri and Meenachi Sundaram; where as the music would be done by Berny Ignatious. Distribution of the film would be done by Mary Matha Release.

Asif Ali seems to be the hottest property in the Malayalam film industry, and is selling like hot pan-cakes. His next-door boy look and casual style makes him an instant hit with the new generation of audience. Like always, wishing Asif Ali and all the crew of the film the best of luck for this venture..

Prithviraj in Masters Malayalam Movie : Review

I am really sorry that I have not been posting for about a week.. and I am not going to keep you all waiting any longer.. so here is my review of "Masters - deciders of destiny"

Today I am posting a review on Prithviraj's latest film "Masters". This is an action thriller movie, which is expected to be released in December 2011. The shooting for the film had started in August earlier this year. The film is directed by Johny Antony and produced by Sarath Chandran. The story line and screen-play is done by Jinu Abraham. The music of the film is done by Gopi Sunder.

The cast of the film include Prithviraj, Ananya, Mithra Kurian, Biju Menon, Salim Kumar, Jagathy Sreekumar, Vijayaraghavan to name a few. Apart from the cast mentioned above, the Tamil actor-director-producer M Sasikumar and Tamil actress-model Piaa Bajpai plays leading roles in the film.

Prithiviraj plays the role of an APS officer named Sriramakrishnan. Sasikumar who is well known for his debut film Subramaniapuram, plays the important role of the character named Milan Paul. The film has five leading ladies playing key roles. The shining actresses in the Malayalam film industry Mithra Kurien and Ananya have important roles in the film. Piaa Bajpai, after her successful role in KO comes into the Malayalam industry to capture the hearts of the Malayalam hearts with her natural flair. Many may not know the fact that she came to the film industry through Priyadarshan's ad films, and a Priyadarshan produced film "Poi Solla Poram".

The film tells the story of two friends Sriramakrishnan and Milan. They are best buddies from college days, Sriramakrishnan becomes an ASP of Kottayam and Milan is renowned reporter from the same city/town.

The  film revolves around how the two friends use their friendship to fulfill their respective responsibilities towards the society. Sriramakrishnan often gets into trouble due to his hot-temper, and Milan usually gets him out of trouble. Similarly when Milan gets into trouble with the bad guys, its Sri who comes to save him. A terrible incident later occurs, that shocks the town. The two friends try to bring out the mystery behind the incident. And how this is accomplished by the two friends, makes this film an exciting film to watch.

The pooja of the film had taken place earlier in the year at Kochi. Apart  from the leading cast; Superstar Mammootty, director Blessy, actor Bala and several others took place in the event.

Idea Star Singer Season 6 Winner

Hi All..

I was watching Idea Star Singer Season-6 on the tele last week, and was wondering how quick time goes by. I remember watching season-1 and now all of a sudden its already in its 6th season!! I have always liked the show and have made time to watch in time and again. Some of the singers have really been awesome, I have to mention the names of a few whom I have really enjoyed. Sreejith from season-4 was my favorite (he should have won the competition too), Akhil from season-5 and Mridhula from season-5 have been very good. However, I always seem to feel that the final results have almost always been biased (I don't mean to offend anyone here).

Anyhow coming to Idea Star Singer Season-6, it was inaugurated on September 26th 2011 by jury member Hariharan in the presence of other jury members as well as Mr. Madhavan (MD of Asianet) and John Brittas (Business Head of Asianet). K J Yesudas had launched the new logo of ISS-6 at the ISS-5 Grand Finale and also introduced the new contestants. The jury panel for ISS-6 consists of K S Chithra, M G Sreekumar, Hariharan, Anuradha Sreeram and M Jayachandran. This season would not be having Sharat in the jury panel.

As in the previous seasons, Ranjini Haridas would be anchoring the show with her distinctive style of presentation. This musical reality show will be aired from 8p.m-9p.m. (IST) from Monday to Friday. Unlike the previous editions of the show, there has been some changes this season. Each of contestants have been assigned a mentor, to help them prepare for competition. They would be helping the contestants groom themselves for each show. Also in the scoring, a slight variation has been made in which at certain levels grading is also being done.

What I would like to start here is a discussion as to who would / should genuinely win this years competition. I would like to hear unbiased opinions, unlike the actual judging done at the Grand Finale. Asif Ali Starer : Unnam in Cinemas Soon!!

Asif Ali's Christmas release Unnam seems set to be released this Christmas season. This is another of Asif's film as a solo hero, as he looks to be the next megastar of Malayalam Cinema.

"Unnam" is a Malayalam word which means "aim". The film is a musical thriller and is directed by Sibi Malayil, who is one of the leading directors in Malayalam film industry. This is the third straight film that the director is doing with Asif, the first one being "Apoorvaragam", the second one "Violin" and now the third one "Unnam". In the first two films, Nithya Menon was the heroine. However Rima Kallingal will be playing the lead lady in this film.

Asif Ali plays the role of "Aloshy" and Rima will play the character "Jenny"/"Jennifer". Rima would be sporting a new look in the film. The shooting of the film is going on in Kochi and Chalakudy area. The cast of the film include Lal who plays the role a character named Sunny, Sreenivasan who plays the role of Balakrishna, Nedumudi Venu as Murukannan and Swetha Menon to name a few. The film is a thriller, which is loosely based on the plot in which a group of people plan to do a crime for making quick money. In between, the relationship between the people in the group changes several times. Aloshy (Asif Ali) is a street singer, Sunny (Lal) has past connections with the Mumbai underworld and Murukan (Nedumudi Venu) is his confidante. Swetha Menon plays the role of a character named Sareena, who is living with Murukan after a failed marriage.

During the shooting of the film, controversy had struck when Rima had not turned up on time of a shoot due to another engagement. Sibi Malayil had filled a complaint against her action to FEKKA, informing them the incident. He later said of the issue, that is was just an in-house issue and that these things happen. "Rima was supposed to inaugurate a firm in the Trivandrum, however she had failed to inform me about it." said Sibi. "When she found that the date clashed with the films shooting schedule, she tried to back out from the engagement by giving back the fee. But the owners didn't accept it." The shooting of the film had resumed last Monday, with all cast.

The film seems to be different from the films that we are used to see from Sibi Malayil, and hence we can expect something different and new in this film. The music of the film is done by a new music director John P Varkey. The script for this film was done by Swathy Bhaskar, and the lyrics is done by Rafeeq Ahammed. The film is produced by David Kachapily. Wishing the film and crew the best for the film..

First Review on Dileep's Christmas Release - Spanish Masala

Dileep's latest film "Spanish Masala" is all set for a Christmas release. The film has been directed by Lal Jose, and is produced by Noushad under the banner of "Big Screen".

The film has been extensively shot in Spain, as the plot of the movie is based there. There would be only 2 days of shooting in Kerala. The cast of the film include Dileep, Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon, Kala Ranjini, Vinaya Prasad, Nelson and Gopalan. Oh.. I almost forgot to mention the actress for the film. The leading lady in the film is Kavya Madhavan oops!! I got that wrong. The heroine for the film is an Austrian born actress Daniela Zacherl. She is a professional hip-hop dancer and a ballet dancer, apart from which she has acted in a couple of short films and music videos. The rest of the crew is mainly from Europe.

The film tells the story of a Malayali mimicry artist who comes to Spain with his group of mimicry artists. He wants to start a new life in Spain and runs away from the troupe, to illegally migrate to Spain. In search of a job, he lands with the job of a chef for the Spanish ambassador due to his talent for cooking. He later falls in love with the Ambassadors daughter, and the rest of the film tells how the marry each other. The whole plot of the film is based on how food helps in uniting two cultures together. All in all, the film is a comedy packed and entertainment is guaranteed as is most Dileep films we have seen.

Some of the well known Spanish masala, such as the Tomatina festival, bull-fighting, flamenco dancing add some local Spanish touch to the film. The films script has been written by Benny P Nayarambalam and the music has been done by Vidyasagar. It has been heard that the producer and chef Noushad himself had blessed the film with this tasty title. Hoping that the film is as tasty as the title itself...
